As a reporter for the Mets and the Yankees, Ed Lucas covered the playoffs, the World Series and the All Star game. Ed has worked as a syndicated radio personality and has been inducted into the New Jersey Sports Hall of Fame. Ed Lucas is also blind.

Dear friends,

Happy New Year to One and All!

I would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you from everyone at the Ed Lucas Foundation and the David Cone Celebrity Golf Classic.

Our 2023 golf event was incredibly successful due to your support and generosity. I would like to acknowledge Peter Cancro and Jerry Kallman of Jersey Mike’s for officially coming aboard as our Major Title Sponsor.  I would also like to recognize the Mortorano Family as our Dinner Sponsor, James Fiorentino for his involvement in so many ways, and Corporate Sponsors BCB Community Bank, KDLM, Bogota Savings and Camber Pharmaceuticals.

In addition, through your support, I am happy to report the Ed Lucas Foundation was able to more than double the grants issued in 2023 over the previous year.  The following sight-related and special needs charities are those to whom grants were made.

• The Seeing Eye – Training guide dogs for the blind

• Seton Hall University – Scholarships and adaptive equipment for special needs students

• The Independence Fund – Adaptive equipment for wounded veterans

• JDRF – Diabetes research, the number one cause of blindness

• CRF – Retinal research and diseases of the eye

• Visions – Programs for the visually impaired adult community

• UCP – Cerebral Palsy research

• Shining Stars Network – Providing art programs for special needs children

The 2024 David Cone Celebrity Golf Classic will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024.  We look forward to having you join us for this wonderful cause as we continue the legacy and spirit of Ed Lucas.
